Abuja's GLP-1 market is thinner than Lagos's. Fewer pharmacies stock these medications, and the ones that do are concentrated in Maitama, Wuse and Garki. The practical result is that most Abuja buyers order online, often from a seller they cannot see, and pay by transfer before anything arrives.
The Abuja-specific risk is the journey
Most GLP-1 stock enters Nigeria through Lagos. Getting it to Abuja means either a flight or a long road trip, and that leg is where pens are ruined. A cold box holds temperature for hours, not for a two-day road journey in an unrefrigerated van.
Ask any Abuja seller a direct question: is the stock held in Abuja, or dispatched from Lagos when you order? Both answers can be fine. Only one of them involves a long trip after you have paid.
Heat damage is invisible. A pen that has been too warm looks, smells and injects exactly like a good one. The only difference is that it does not work. This is why storage history matters more than packaging.
What to check before you transfer
- The account name. It should match the business. A personal account name for a business transaction is the oldest warning sign there is.
- The batch number and expiry, before payment.
- Where the stock is right now, and how it will travel to you.
- Today's price, dated. Imported stock reprices with the naira.

When it arrives
- Open the box while the rider is still there.
- Feel inside the box. It should still be cold. Room temperature is not.
- Check the batch number and expiry against what you were told.
- Put the pen in the fridge, not the freezer, and not in the door shelf where the temperature swings.
If anything is off, stop and report it the same day. A pen you are unsure about is not worth injecting to find out.
