The short version

Lagos has more GLP-1 sellers than anywhere else in Nigeria, which sounds like an advantage until you try to tell them apart. The medication itself is identical wherever you buy it. What differs is how it was stored, whether it is genuine, and whether the person taking your transfer intends to deliver anything.

The four routes, and what each one costs you

The last row deserves a blunt note. The cheapest prices in Lagos cluster on Instagram, and so do the fakes. A falsified batch circulating in Nigeria in 2023 contained fast-acting insulin instead of semaglutide, which can cause dangerous hypoglycaemia in someone who is not diabetic.

The Lagos problem nobody mentions: heat

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are protein medicines. Above roughly 30°C they begin to degrade, and a degraded pen looks exactly like a good one. Clear liquid, intact seal, correct labelling, no smell. You find out it was ruined when four weeks pass and nothing happens.

Lagos traffic turns a thirty-minute delivery into three hours. An unrefrigerated courier bag in that heat is the single most common way money gets wasted here, and it happens with genuine product bought from real sellers.

Ask one question before you pay: how will the pen be kept cold between your fridge and mine? A seller who cannot answer in specifics, meaning an insulated box, an ice pack and a direct rider, is telling you something.

Checks that take two minutes

  1. Match the account name. If the business calls itself one thing and the account is a personal name, stop. This is the most common pattern in advance-payment fraud.
  2. Ask for the batch number and expiry before you send money, then check both against the pen that arrives.
  3. Ask for today's price before you commit. Prices move with the exchange rate, and a vague quote becomes a higher one later.
  4. Check the box on arrival. It should still be cold. If it is warm, do not inject, and say so the same day.
  5. Refrigerate immediately, away from the freezer compartment. A frozen pen is finished, even if it thaws clear.
